Why convert PNG to JFIF?
PNG is lossless, which makes photos stored as PNG much larger than they need to be. Some systems explicitly expect the .jfif extension; the content is a standard JPEG image.
What changes when you convert PNG to JFIF
- JFIF files are usually noticeably smaller than PNG files for the same image.
- JFIF uses lossy compression. At the default quality (85) the difference is invisible for most images; raise it for maximum fidelity or lower it for smaller files.
- JFIF does not support transparency. Transparent areas in your PNG image are filled with a background colour (white by default, adjustable in Settings).
- JFIF images can be at most 65,535 pixels wide or high; larger images are scaled down automatically.

Will I lose quality converting PNG to JFIF?
JFIF is a lossy format, so a small amount of detail is traded for size. At quality 85–95 the difference is not visible for typical images. You can raise the quality in Settings.
