Lossless removal
Instead of decoding and re-saving the picture, the remover deletes the metadata blocks from the file directly. The compressed image data is copied byte for byte. The colour profile is kept so colours look the same, and if the photo relies on an orientation tag, only that single tag is written back so it still displays upright.
Frequently asked questions
Which formats are supported?
JPG/JFIF, PNG and WEBP are cleaned losslessly. Other formats are re-encoded, which also removes all metadata.
Is the colour profile removed?
No. The ICC colour profile is kept because removing it can change how colours look. It does not contain personal information.
Are my images uploaded?
No. This tool runs entirely in your browser, so your images never leave your device.
