Why convert AVIF to JPG?
AVIF is extremely efficient but new; older software, many editors and some platforms cannot open it yet. JPG is supported by virtually every device, app and website, and keeps photos compact.
What changes when you convert AVIF to JPG
- JPG files are usually larger than AVIF files, because JPG stores the image with less (or no) lossy compression.
- JPG uses lossy compression. At the default quality (85) the difference is invisible for most images; raise it for maximum fidelity or lower it for smaller files.
- JPG does not support transparency. Transparent areas in your AVIF image are filled with a background colour (white by default, adjustable in Settings).
- If your AVIF is animated, only the first frame is converted to JPG.
- JPG images can be at most 65,535 pixels wide or high; larger images are scaled down automatically.

Will I lose quality converting AVIF to JPG?
JPG is a lossy format, so a small amount of detail is traded for size. At quality 85–95 the difference is not visible for typical images. You can raise the quality in Settings.
Can I convert multiple AVIF files at once?

Are my AVIF files uploaded?

Does it work on iPhone and Android?
Yes. The converter works in current versions of Safari, Chrome, Firefox and Edge on phones, tablets and computers. Very large images may exceed the memory available to mobile browsers.
AVIF or WebP — which should I use?
AVIF usually produces smaller files at the same quality, especially for photos. WebP encodes faster and is supported by slightly older browsers. Many sites serve AVIF with a WebP or JPEG fallback using the HTML <picture> element.
